Well, I watched the Chingay 2009 Telecast on Sunday. Actually I was quite surprised that there is no LIVE telecast, but it is a replayed telecast instead.

Anyway, Chingay 2009 in general is good!!! First, NTU CAC made their first Debut in bringing in the float that was created by Profs and Engineers, but they forget to mention the dancers and crews are supported and coordinated by CAC people. Hai.. I quite disappointed of that because sometime the school just won't recognize the efforts of their students, and bringing the pride to themselves and not the students. Oh well. It could be the first ever float that I saw that incorporate fire and mechanical system inside which make the dragons look so real.

Another one that I remembered is the dragon dance with splashing molten metal around the whole stage. That was, WOW!! Well, its a pain in the ass for those performers, but its really very beautiful and nice when seen on TV, I believe it will be even greater on LIVE!

Hmm, the rest of the acts are pretty normal, but some dances are really nice.

The highlight of this year's Chingay is the "magic" performance by Lawerence Khong, and Priscilla Khong. Not to forget the whole Magic Box Crew, magicians, dancers. Let me guess.. Over 500 people? You guess yourself.

Anyway, to be honest, I quite "shocked" and partly disappointed. First of all, their float is normal, like a whole tank of wire gram without clothing. Well, it was covered by lighting, so its like hmm, hmm.. Naked Light float? Oh well, then tons of dancers, and magicians. Doing different magic to the audiences. Some are really good, but some.. is really omg.. I won't expose the magic here, but its quite bad.

Oh, then comes LK with his horse, is it his? Don't know, but i know he own 3 horses. Staged like a unicorn, the brown unicorn come in with him on top of course. Then the act continue, with Priscilla Khong appear on a cage that is HANGED by a CRANE. So if she is the princess, why is she in a CAGE? Oh well.. Then blah blah.. go on stage, did a illusion, then Minister APPEARANCE!!!! Nicely Done..

So the finale is, LK going to be BURNED ALIVE  for 1 whole minute, well thats what was told anyway. So he go on top of a platform, then covered TOTALLY with a BLACK cloth, then he stand very FIRM, not moving an inch. Then a wired graze is put infront of him, that is to prevent the fire from splashing onto the outside. 

Then the minister set "him" on fire!!! And he is not moving an inch of the fire, must be damn tough enduring the fire, then 30-40 sec past, and he shouted, something like, he cannot take it, and fire extinguisher!!! He is gone, and he appear right on top of the building, then suspended down. Good ending.. But I don't think so.

Mainly because, it was told that he is going to "endure" 1 minute of fire, and I believe or I thought he really going to do that, which is very impressive, but he made an illusion out of it. Which means he might or might not have endured 1 minute. Okie to be frank, Magic are illusions, to get to the top, need more than 1 minute, if it is magic, that will be great, if its not, its illusion and it means that "he" is not there. So if he is not there, he is not enduring the fire, so does it make sense then?

Okie, I not condeming anything, I just feel cheated as an audience, really.. I really thinking that he is going to endure for 1 minute, not "endure" for 1 minute. Maybe he meant the latter part.. Oh well.. Zzzz..
